Recently, we had the absolute pleasure of working on the Indah Island, Hamptons Farmhouse Project. With Perth’s own Hamptons Designer Extraordinaire, Natalee Bowen at the helm we knew it was going to be an adventure and worthy opportunity! And she did not disappoint, the end result was one of style and sophistication.
Natalee and her husband Mark always dreamt of owning the cottage that his great-grandfather built in Toodyay, and when it became a reality they began planning a beautiful Hamptons style renovation. From the moment we saw the plans we knew this was going to be an amazing build, using some amazing products.
Is a farmhouse without a verandah even a farmhouse? Well, this home ticked that box, we built a deck that wrapped around most of the home. New Tech Wood supplied their brand new, low maintenance, composite decking product from their Coastal range in Antique. It has a rustic look and blends beautifully into the surrounding landscape.
Part of our brief was to install the ceilings inside and out, as well as the eaves on the upper story. The product of choice was James Hardie’s HardieGroove Lining which is a hard wearing fibre cement panel that gives the look of tongue and groove timber without imperfections. Installing these on an eight metre high ceiling was a challenge but our team stepped up to the plate and the result is pretty special.
Everything we did on this project was on a generous scale, Natalee even had the cheek to say she could have gone bigger! I’m not going to lie, that comment made my eye twitch. Overall it has been a whirlwind experience that demanded a lot of commitment and hard work from our team but now looking back at what has been achieved, we are pretty proud!
A huge thank you to Natalee and Mark for choosing us to take part in the project.
